Sometimes things align perfectly as if it were a dream, and this Vancouver city session was definitely one of those times…

A few weeks before I met with Kaylene & Ammar to discuss their Steelhead Hall wedding I was roaming around the city of Vancouver & happened to spot some interesting light in a plaza. The sun was setting at the perfect angle & I knew I had to find a way to photograph here. There was the perfect amount of softly lit spaces & harsh light casting shadows that danced along the walls which complimented the unique architecture of the surrounding area.

I was struck with creativity in that moment & I knew that I had to ask the next couple who inquired with me to have their engagement photography captured here. Que a spark of luck & Kaylene & Ammar reached out to me, we met & immediately met the next day for their session.

It’s not often I get to play with harsh light or an urban setting so I couldn’t contain my excitement when I arrived at the location & saw the magical possibilities. I loved finding the pockets of light that I could utilize creatively & create images that are unique to K+A but also push the boundaries of how engagement/wedding photography is perceived.

I hope you enjoy these visuals as much as I do.
